On Jan. 14th we fostered a conversation around how the federal budget environment is impacting federal workers. Samara Richardson with the Social Security Administration (SSA) lead our discussion. She addressed how she and her colleagues were personally affected by the partisan-gridlock prior to the shutdown, as well as the challenges with planning and communication. In particular, she discussed how uncertainty harms employee morale, productivity and engagement. She also shared her thoughts on how individuals and agencies can better weather any future crises, such as shutdowns.
